Every year the coolest technology companies visit Las Vegas for CES (Consumer Electronics Show), the biggest technology trade show in the world.
This year Cammy was there alongside some of the biggest tech giants and these are the top 5 coolest technologies we saw at CES 2017.
1. Super Slim TVs
One of the biggest trends seen at CES 2017 were TVs so thin, they almost disappear. One of the most impressive of the bunch was the new W7 from LG. This 65-inch OLED TV weights less than 7kgs and is a mere 2.5 mm thick.
LG says that it should be capable of reproducing 99 percent of the DCI colour space, versus the 97 percent of last year. So far there has been no mention of the price, but with last year’s 65-inch model costing $11,000 one can assume that the new model will be a similar price. The W7 will begin shipping in the US in March 2017.
2. Kicking it Old School
With the massive success and comeback of Pokemon Go last year, it proves that many of us are obsessed with old school gaming. And what is more old school than a Nintendo original Game Boy? This console looks the same as the original, but with a lot more power and a 10-hour battery life. Dust off all your old game cartridges because the console is compatible with all your original Game Boy, Game Boy Colour and Game Boy Advance games. The best thing is that it’s very affordable at only US$80!
3. Virtual Reality
For all of those who are fans of Virtual Reality, get excited about the new Vive Tracker. This small device works with HTC Vive HR system and lets you put any real world object into the virtual world. You can connect the Vive Tracker to certain accessories like golf clubs, baseball bats or toy guns to integrate into the VR experience. Currently, there are only a couple games and experiences that the tracker is compatible with but expect more as the year goes on.
4. We love Wearables
Wearable technology like the Fitbit and Snapchat glasses have blown up in the last few years. Now the first wearable ring has been released and this one is just as awesome. The Motiv Ring tracks your heart rate, activity and your sleep.
Another great thing about this cool piece of wearable technology is that it’s waterproof so the only time you have to take it off is when you need to charge it every 5 days or so. The Motiv Ring can be pre-ordered now for $199 and is expected to ship in spring 2017.
5. The most important meal of the day
This is one of the coolest tech pieces at CES 2017 – the Griffin Connected Toaster. This smart toaster has levels on the app that lets you decide how toasty you want your bread. Super helpful for those of you who take your toasting seriously, because making a perfect piece of toast is an art form.
